Hello Harmonica Lovers!
I’m going to be talking more about Lee Oskar and his harmonica system and how he has expanded the realm of the harmonica. Is it just me that noticed that school bands never have harmonica in them out of all the school band instruments that they have you never see a harmonica maybe it’s because it’s so small you couldn’t see the instrument in a school band. Lol I played trumpet in a school band when I was younger they didn’t offer the harmonica as an instrument.
I would like to elaborate on the Lee Oskar harmonica system and the different keys that he offers that other brands don’t offer. Lee Oskar has a line of Major Diatonic, Melody Maker, Natural Minor and harmonic Minor harmonica line. Major Diatonic is the Traditional Blues Tuning for Blues, Rock, Country and Jazz.
Melody Maker is a tuning best for single note playing in cross harp position for Melody Playing best used for Country, R&B, POP, Jazz & Standard playing. Natural Minor was the missing link that allows you to Wail on those funky soulful minor blues tunes best used in Blues, Rock, Country, R&B, Reggae, POP, and Jazz.
Harmonic Minor has a multi-cultural tuning for soulful Eastern European Sound best used to play Traditional Ethic Music great for playing Minor Yiddish, Gypsy, French, Italian, Greek, Asian, European, Folk, Middle Eastern and American Folk. With these tuning’s it gives the player an opportunity to experiment with different sounds and different types of music played all over the world. I’m going to give you some insight on Keys & Positions on the harmonica 1st Position is called ” Straight Harp” accents the Blow Notes is used to play simple melodies and some chords. 2nd Position is called ” Cross Harp” accents the Draw Notes & Bending is used to get the bluesy sound which 90% of Harp Players use today.
The benefit of buying Lee Oskar harmonicas would be they have more of a variety of keys and Tuning and can be repaired easily and inexpensive because of the replacement reed plates that he offers!
